COPPERAS COVE – During a special meeting of the Copperas Cove ISD Board of Trustees, the board committed to a timeline for its ongoing search for the district’s next superintendent.

Trustees worked alongside Texas Association of School Boards’ Executive Search Services team during a planning meeting Monday.

During the meeting, trustees agreed to hold multiple public hearings, allowing for community involvement in addition to the ongoing Community Input Survey available on the district website.

In addition, they committed to an approximate timeline for the search.

The board is planning to accept applications through TASB until Nov. 7th, with a review of the applications in mid-November.

The trustees hope to conduct initial interviews in early December with plans to do follow-up interviews and name a lone finalist for superintendent prior to Christmas Break.

That timeline would set the vote to hire, which requires a 21-day waiting period from naming a lone finalist, in early January.

Additionally, the board discussed its preferred traits in the district’s next leader, which will help shape the search profile. Trustees voiced that they were looking for someone with an innovative approach to education who is honest and community-oriented.

Updates on the district’s search for its next “Top Dawg” can be found on the Superintendent Search page of the district's website.

The board is next scheduled to hold its regular workshop at Noon on Oct. 7th with its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 8th. Both meetings will be held in the Board Room, located at the District Service & Training Center at 408 S. Main St.

Agendas will be posted outside the District Service & Training Center 72 hours prior to the meeting. Once posted, they can be viewed at on the School Board page of the district's website.
